Welcome to the website of Greenwood Newfoundlands. We are a small family owned hobby kennel, producing only a few litters of puppies a year. Newfoundlands are not a breed for the impulse buyer, they all do shed and drool to some degree. There is no such thing as a dry mouth newf! Careful thought and research needs to go into the purchase of a newfie. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the health issues facing the breed. Even though newfies are well known for their sweetness, due to their size they must be trained in obedience starting at an early age. Our goal as breeders is to strive to produce puppies with the perfect balance of correct temperament, health, and type in accordance with the standard for the newfoundland set forth by the American Kennel Club.
We desire for our puppies, the very highest quality and quantity of life. To this end, we are very particular about our breeding stock. We are certifying for hips, elbows, hearts, thyroids, patellas, and doing DNA checks for cystinuria free stock, registered with the OFA. We are also doing CERF (canine eye registry).
Our dogs are gentle, loyal family dogs who perform true to their breed. They are excellent with children.

If you are interested in our puppies, please contact us for a placement form. This form allows us to get to know a bit about you, and the environment we would be placing one of our babies into. We do require a fenced in yard or area for our puppies, even if they will be kept primarily inside.
